Crafted from an organically-farmed blend of Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, and Arinto, Niepoort’s Coche cuvée is produced from fruit grown on vines over 80 years in age. The vineyard is situated at soaring altitudes of 600 meters above sea level on the right bank of the Douro River, and is dominated by mica-schist soils. In the cellar, the fruit is hand sorted, gently pressed, and fermented in French oak barrels (228L and 550L, 50% of which are new) prior to aging in the same vessels for 12 months. Mineral driven and complex, the wine offers a beautiful notes of citrus, toast, and white flowers marked by a salty, refreshing finish.
