Rumbo al Norte is often deemed the most bountiful—and perhaps the most complex—of Comando G’s single-site wines. Fruit for Rumbo al Norte comes from a 0.3-hectare plot of vines rooted in a combination of sand, silt, and granite soils planted at over 1,200 feet above sea level. Post hand harvest, the grapes are fermented with whole clusters and native yeasts in open-top vats followed by a long maceration and aging for 14 months in large French oak vats. Spicy, supple and dark fruited, this palate-coating wine is a crowdpleaser year in and year out.
