Located in the village of Sauternes in the Graves wine region, southeast of the city of Bordeaux, the Chateau d'Yquem has a history reaching around 400 years. Applying organic farming since 2019, the vineyards are planted with sémillion (80%) and sauvignon blanc (20%). The proximity of the rivers Garonne and Ciron and the fog they disperse provides the perfect habitat for the fungus botrytis cinerea: known as noble rot. The result is rich, palate-coating wines that offer a taste of attainable luxury without ever feeling cloying or heavy. Since the process of noble rot does not take place throughout the vines at the same time, the harvesting of the rot-affected grapes is very time-consuming and produces very low yields. Barrel aging has occurred in 100% new French oak for 30 months since 2000. Chateau d'Yquem wines provide quality and ethereal drinking experiences. They are food-friendly and their lifespan in the cellar spans decades and sometimes even centuries.
